Subject: ARISA USA Cancellation
To Caroline Norris, Philip Gattas, Kate Phillips, Keyosha Corner, Alex Gilbertson, Linda Brashear, John Morrison and Clay Gravatt:
Yesterday, May 25, 2021, I took the afternoon off from my full time job to attend the ARISE USA event at Shelby Farms. My Mom and I planned to attend this event when the tour schedule was announced several weeks ago. As we drove, we discovered the event had been cancelled and there would be a meet and greet from 4-5pm instead. We looked at one another in disbelief and frankly, horror.
What is the reason behind the cancellation of this contracted event?
As a native Memphian, I can’t count the number of times I’ve come to Shelby Park or the Agricenter for the Playground of Dreams, to feed the horses, for the Delta Fair, the Farmers Market, Fall Festivals and other shows. Never have I heard of this happening and I want an explanation.
If the reasoning is because this is a loving, patriotic group of people who love their country and have a message to give to others, then let me tell you something. That is absolutely pathetic. There are no decent words to describe how petty and unpatriotic it was to do that. What kind of person squashes the voices of those who are good and positive? A not so good person does that. Which one of you caved?
Tell me this: The Hunting and Fishing Extravaganza is held every year just before the Fall. That event pulls in a ton of money doesn’t it? I’d be willing to bet hell would have to freeze over before that one ever got cancelled. It’s funny how a great many vendors who have tables at the Hunting and Fishing show sell Army, Navy and Marine themed clothing and patches and pins, etc. That’s patriotic. Also for sale or for trade are firearms, knives and other weapons. While we’re at it let’s also mention items of all kind that are pro-Trump themed.
Why was ARISA USA cancelled? Memphis wants an explanation. Americans want an explanation. I’ll be waiting.
